Board of Directors

Daniel K. Khalessi

Co-Founder

Daniel is in his fourth year at Stanford University majoring in International Relations. Daniel’s interest in global literacy began in 2008, when he helped organize a book and fundraising drive to start the first library at the Tsoana-Mantata Secondary School in Lesotho. In March 2011, he traveled as part of an American delegation to South Korea through the Korea Foundation.  In the Fall of 2011, Daniel interned in the office of Ambassador Susan Rice in New York, conducting research on the U.N. High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP). Daniel will be pursuing his Masters of Arts in Global Affairs at Yale University beginning this Fall.

Ryan D. Khalessi

Co-Founder, President

Ryan is studying Business Administration with emphasis in international and non-profit management  at the University of California, Berkeley – Haas School of Business. Ryan has gained a variety of cultural exposure through travel as a delegate to the Korea-U.S. Youth Network through the Korea Foundation in 2011 and to a Japanese cultural exchange program in Iwata in 2010. He has also traveled to the United Arab Emirates, Dominican Republic, and extensively throughout Western Europe.  He has studied Spanish, French, Persian, and Arabic to better engage with populations around the world.


Ariana Kashani

Executive Director

Ariana Kashani is currently in her fourth year at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is majoring in Global Studies with an emphasis on the Middle East, with a minor in Global Peace. Ariana is most interested in learning about and focusing on the current political and social situation in the Middle East. She has explored her Persian heritage by studying the language and culture. She has also traveled extensively throughout the world, visiting a total of thirty countries in Africa, Europe, Central America and Asia in order to broaden her knowledge of their cultures. As a whole, these are attributes and experiences that she wishes to help in making a global difference.

Nicolette Yadegar

Head Grant Writer

Nicolette is a third year Computer Science student at California State Polytechnic University – Pomona. While she grew up immersing herself in books, writing, and journalism, Nicolette also found great potential for creativity and expression in her chosen major. Her greatest interest is in establishing an open platform through technology in order to increase the accessibility of information and education on a global level. She is passionate about furthering growth around the world through open access to education for anyone who seeks it, and knows this can be achieved through open source technology.


Rahul Ramakrishnan

Rahul Ramakrishnan is a graduate of the University of California, Davis where he studied Electrical Engineering with a minor in Economics. Rahul has previously worked in the philanthropy sector, raising money for breast cancer research and for children with cancer.

Victoria Sun

Victoria is in her second year studying Business Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a political activist and fundraiser for a variety of global human rights issues; has interned in a California assembly office; and enjoys international history and current events. Having visited China more than a dozen times, she loves Chinese culture and speaks Mandarin and Spanish.
